Office 2007 Interactive Command Guides

These guides are design to help a user who are experienced with past versions of Office migrate to the new Office 2007 version with its fancy ribbon bar.

The guides present you with the old menu & toolbar interface and then demonstrate how to get to that feature in the new version.

Hopefully this will help get you all up to speed.

Office 2007 Service Pack 2 Release Date

According to the WSUS Product Team Blog, Office 2007 System Service Pack 2 will be released at some point in April. They have indicated that it will include the ability to save as ODF & PDF, along with improvements to Outlook.

Outlook 2003 Desktop Icon

When installing Outlook 2003 some people like to have the old Outlook icon on the desktop. Here is how to get the same icon (not a shortcut) on the desktop:

  1. Open the Registry Editor. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace
  2. Click Edit | Add Key and add the following key: {00020D75-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}

Microsoft Does it again, 0-Day Exploit against Excel

Only a few days after Microsoft releases their updates and a new exploit is released. You can pick up more details at the Microsoft Security Center Blog – Reports of a new vulnerability in Microsoft Excel. Basically as usual the same rules apply don’t open attachments from people unless they have previously said they were sending them, and even then take them with a grain of salt as pretty much any file on any system, either Windows, OSX, or Linux it doesn’t matter, every files is a potential hazard to your computer these days.

Oh yeah in Bill Gates is changing his focus at work again, still doesn’t make much difference to him though. He will still be the worlds richest man.
