I've always wanted to know what were a photographers rights when it comes to taking photos in a public place. I've seen videos and articles that don't apply to Australia, and to be honest I bet most people in Australia don't know.

The general gist of it is:
It is generally possible to take photographs in a public place without asking permission. This extends to taking photographs of buildings, sites and people.

If you want to read about this then you should check out the Street Photographers Rights page at the Arts Law Centre of Australia.

Most people would be aware that a Hurricane that has been named Gustav is currently moving into the Gulf of Mexico and there is currently lots of media attention on New Orleans. Most of the news is about evacuations and stuff like that given that the City is built foolishly close to sea level, in lots of cases bellow sea level. (New Orleans Elevation Map).

Now here is the fun part I did a little search for 'Gustav', and Wikipedia came up with a wonderful result:
Gustav, Gustaf or Gustave (meaning "staff of the gods")

The name is an old Swedish name, and their have been at least six Swedish kings with the name.

So all I can say now is, for the love of god get out now will you still can because the" Staff of the gods" is coming.

For more information on the name Gustav you can read the article Gustav (name) on Wikipedia

Since it's Anzac day.

Anzac Day is commemorated by Australia and New Zealand on 25 April every year to remember members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who landed at Gallipoli in Turkey during World War I. [Source]

Between 5:00pm on the 18th and 11:30am on the 19th, someone decided to vandalize my car in the most annoying way, the old bend your antenna over trick. Thats right some little punk with nothing better to do decided it would be fun to cause me an inconvenience. Most people wouldn't bother to report that to the police, but I did and they are going to get this lovely picture that I took to add to the case file.

Interestingly enough when I offered the lady on the phone to email her the photo she said she would look for an address for me to send it to, she subsequently couldn't find one and suggested that I take the photo to the local police station and they will add it to the file.
